9 Cola was created by melting recycled HDPE plastic over a form using my plastic extrusion gun. The plastic extrusion gun was inspired by James Shaw’s plastic extrusion gun but this iteration was envisioned to be utilized like a large 3D printing pen.
The form was inspired by Pattern:Noise #2. The key difference between the two objects is that Pattern:Noise #2 was 3-D printed while 9 Cola was made using a handheld tool.
The title refers to the number of times the two-liter bottle (that acts as the hopper of the tool) was filled in the process of making the piece.
